Greater-Miami has the largest metropolitan area on the southeastern coast of the US with a population of 2.5 million people and growing. It is a major hub for Latin American Commerce. Miami is home to the busiest port in the Southeastern US. This helps sustain Miami’s strong economy by providing a vital link to both inbound and outbound travel, tourism, import/exporting and warehousing industries.

The city’s proximity to South America and the Caribbean ensure this, as well as the large international airport and the Port of Miami. Many large companies such as Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Burger King and Sony have their American headquarters here. Banking is another huge industry for Miami, with most of the worlds major banks having a presence downtown. Miami has a heavy Spanish influence with waves of Hispanics immigrating here since the cities earliest beginnings. The biggest wave of immigration came from Cuba when Fidel took power. Since then Central and South Americans have discovered Miami as the place to be. The latest big influx has been Venezuelans, unhappy with the new direction of their government. Miami is a melting pot of tropical art deco style of the 20’s mixed with heavy Spanish colonial influences and the hot Florida Sun. Miami is a place of culture and arts. From the Miami City Ballet, to the Coconut Grove Playhouse, to the Biltmore Hotel and Viscaya. There are many choices available for entertainment and leisure. World renowned beaches from Miami Beach to South Beach to clothing optional Haulover and the newly re-nourished Sunny Isle Beach there is something for everyone in Miami. South Beach flourishes as the place to see and be seen in the myriad of daytime cafés and night time hot spots that line Ocean Drive. South Beach got born again in the 1980’s thanks to the hit show Miami Vice and became a place of movies and fashion shoots. It is the LA of the East, frequented by the trendy, the fashionable, the celebrity, the iconic athletes, models and movie stars. Florida’s lack of a state income tax make it a favorite address for the well-heeled. Need we say more?
